Summer! Break out the Lemon and Garlic. XFleas!

High Summer, Ah

It's That Time!

Get your Lemon on! and start adding Garlic to -Everything.

X-Fleas!

Lemon juice kills and repels fleas -- And it highlights your hair! Bonus!

Garlic will repel anything, -boyfriends, vampires, mosquitoes, fleas, -- And you can Eat it!

Slice a lemon, rub it on your hair, rub it on your dog, [away from faces and any scratches - lemon burns!].

Repeat: Be careful that the lemon juice cannot get into anyone's eye, person or animal – and avoid scratches on skin. Apply sparingly, it only takes a bit, and remember -dilute lemon juice can run down heads with sweat or water.

Rub lemon juice on your cat if you dare, put it in a spray bottle and spray it on your couch, carpets, etc. -[where you do not care if you get fade marks – lemon juice will cause lightening]. Rub it onto your horse's mane far down the crest, and into the tips of the tail hair for an added kick when she swats flies.

Add Garlic to Everything. Raw Garlic is the most effective, but do cook with it. The more garlicky you are the better. Eat it Raw! – 1 Fresh clove per about 150 lbs of human or dog. That means for your Large dog [60 lb or more], one narrow sliver of garlic minced and added to one egg with a sprinkle of active yeast and ½ a teaspoon of wheat germ oil or tablespoon of finely chopped wheat grass will strengthen your dog's derma, nails and eyes and will make it taste horrible! Fleas, ticks and mosquitoes will generally decline taking a bite of your Dog on Garlic.

Edit stated proportions relatively for the size of your dog -- ie Med ~30 1bs - 1/2 egg, 1/8 tspn crushed garlic, etc.; Sm ~10 1bs -small dollop of egg, scant top of forkful w/ very small amount of tiny grains of minced garlic. Get out a calculator if you must, or email me naturalanimaltrainer@gmail.com. No problem whatsoever.

Horses can be given dried and ground garlic supplemented to their summer feed in small proportions to help repel flies and ticks.

Please take caution giving your dog or horse garlic if you have never done so. In rare cases, some dogs have shown extreme allergic response to garlic. I have not heard of the same with horses. As with any new food item, slowly build your dog's/horse's tolerance level to garlic by adding small portions and watch your animal closely for any signs of discomfort or general malaise as you do increase the amount to the level specific for the weight of your pet. If you have concerns, please talk to your veterinarian.
